Qualifications and Educational History
I am a Lecturer in Criminology in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Hull, where I teach a range of criminology and sociology modules, including two directly related to my research interests, 'Race' and Crime', and 'Leadership: a social sciences approach'. I am currently engaged in research on the capacity of Muslim communities to critically (re)frame counter-terror and cohesion issues which problematise Muslim citizenship and identities in Britain. I am also actively establishing research projects in Hong Kong on migration and minority issues.
I completed my doctoral thesis 'Leadership in transition: intergenerational tensions in two Pakistani communities in Britain',at the Research Institute for Law, Politics and Justice at Keele University in 2008.
Prior to this, I read Law (BCL) at University College Dublin, Social Sciences at the Open University, and Criminology and Research Methods (MA) at Keele University Department of Criminology.
